From Application to Homecoming

Finding the right Great Dane puppy begins with finding the right breeder—and we believe the relationship between breeder and family should begin long before your puppy goes home.
At Teuscher Danes, our puppy application and placement process helps us get to know prospective families, understand what they are looking for in a Great Dane, and thoughtfully match our puppies with homes where they can thrive!

  Here is how our application, waiting list, reservation, and payment process works.

Your investment in a Teuscher Dane is $3000 

(we do offer a $250 discount to repeat buyers)

Step 1 — Complete Our Puppy Questionnaire & Application

The first step toward welcoming a Teuscher Danes puppy is completing our Puppy Questionnaire/Application.
Our application helps us learn about your household, lifestyle, previous dog experience, expectations, and what you are hoping for in your future Great Dane.
We take puppy placement seriously. Our goal is not simply to find available homes for our puppies, but to create lasting matches between each puppy and the family who will love and care for them throughout their life.

Step 2 — Application Review & Approval

Once we receive your application, we will review the information you have provided.
We also encourage prospective families to ask questions. Choosing a breeder is an important decision, and we want you to feel comfortable asking about our dogs, health testing, puppy-raising practices, nutrition, socialization, facilities, contracts, or anything else that is important to you.
Once approved, you will have the opportunity to join our puppy waiting list.

Step 3 — Join Our Puppy Waiting List

Approved families may join our waiting list with a $100 non-refundable waiting-list deposit.
This $100 is not an additional fee. It is credited toward the $3,000 purchase price of your puppy.
If the puppy you are hoping for is not available in the current litter, your waiting-list deposit may be transferred one time to a future Teuscher Danes litter.
We never want a family to feel pressured to choose a puppy simply because one is available. If the right puppy isn't in the current litter, waiting for a future litter may be the better choice.

Step 4 — Puppy Matching & Selection

Every Great Dane puppy develops a personality of his or her own.
As our puppies grow, we spend countless hours observing their temperaments, confidence, energy levels, interactions, development, and individual personalities.
Your application, conversations with you, your preferences, and our observations of the puppies all help guide the matching process.
Our goal is to help you find the right puppy—not simply an available puppy.

Step 5 — Reserve Your Puppy

Once your desired puppy has been identified and the match is confirmed, a total $750 reservation deposit is required to reserve that puppy for your family.
If you have already paid the $100 waiting-list deposit, that amount is credited toward the $750 reservation deposit. You would therefore pay an additional $650 at the time your puppy is reserved.
If you did not previously join our waiting list, the full $750 reservation deposit is due when your puppy is reserved.
Reservation Deposit Terms
Of the $750 reservation deposit:
$500 is non-refundable.
$250 is refundable in accordance with the terms of our Puppy Purchase Agreement.
The entire $750 reservation deposit is credited toward your puppy's $3,000 purchase price when the purchase is completed.
Once the reservation deposit has been received, your puppy is officially reserved for you and is no longer offered to other prospective families.

Step 6 — Follow Your Puppy as They Grow

Waiting for go-home day is one of the most exciting parts of the experience.
During this important developmental period, your puppy remains with us while we continue providing the care, nutrition, enrichment, socialization, and experiences that help prepare them for the transition into your family.
We want our families to feel connected to their puppies and informed about their development before go-home day.
This is also the perfect time to prepare your home, gather supplies, review the information we provide, and get ready for life with your Great Dane.

Step 7 — Final Payment

The total purchase price of a Teuscher Danes puppy is $3,000 (plus any applicable fees)
Your $750 reservation deposit is applied toward that purchase price, leaving a remaining balance of $2,250.
The $2,250 balance must be paid in full before your puppy leaves Teuscher Danes.
All required contracts, paperwork, and applicable requirements must also be completed before your puppy goes home.

Step 8 — Welcome Home

Our relationship with our puppy families doesn't end on go-home day. We want to remain a resource for our families as their puppies grow from tiny Great Danes into the extraordinary dogs they were meant to be!
