What is the process for adopting a Teuscher Danes Great Dane Puppy?
To add one of our Great Dane puppies to your family, we like to start by having potential families fill out our puppy questionnaire.
We are committed to providing not just a puppy, but a thoughtfully matched lifelong companion.
Our process is designed for families who value quality, preparation, and a lifelong breeder relationship and to ensure every Teusche Dane is placed with intention, care and purpose.
How much is the deposit?
Our deposit is $ 750.00 and is applied toward the total purchase price of your puppy.
This ensures committed homes and allows us to plan each puppy’s placement with care.
🐾 Limited Availability
Each Teuscher Danes litter is carefully planned and raised with intention.
For this reason, we accept only a select number of reservations per litter.
Availability is often secured well in advance.
How do I reserve a puppy?
To reserve a puppy, we require a deposit. This secures your place on our reservation list for the current or upcoming litter.
Because of the care and intention behind our breeding program, availability is limited and reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis once approved.
Is the deposit refundable?
Deposits are partially refundable, as they reserve a specific placement in our program. We will refund $250.00 of the total deposit if you decide a Teuscher Dane puppy is not for you at this time.
At Teuscher Danes, each reservation represents a meaningful commitment on both sides.
Once a deposit is placed, we reserve a specific placement within our program and often turn away other qualified families. We also begin investing time and resources into preparing for that puppy’s transition into your home.
This policy allows us to maintain the integrity of our program, ensure serious and committed homes, and thoughtfully plan each litter with care.
Deposits can be transferred to a future litter to ensure the best possible match.
Are your parent dogs health tested?
Yes—health and longevity are at the foundation of our program.
All of our parent dogs undergo extensive health testing, including OFA evaluations for hips, heart, eyes, and thyroid, along with comprehensive DNA screening.
Many of our dogs have achieved or are actively working toward CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) certification, which reflects a commitment to full transparency and breed-specific health standards.
This level of testing allows us to make thoughtful breeding decisions and produce puppies with the best possible start in life—both physically and genetically.
What does CHIC certification mean?
CHIC stands for the Canine Health Information Center, a program that recognizes dogs who have completed all recommended health testing for their breed.
For Great Danes, this typically includes:
Hips
Cardiac (heart)
Eyes
Thyroid
CHIC certification does not mean a dog is “perfect,” but it does mean the breeder has completed and publicly shared all required health testing—demonstrating a strong commitment to transparency and responsible breeding.
